Pushpa 2 continues to dominate the box office. Starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, the film has earned over Rs 1719.5 crore worldwide by day 22. The sequel to the 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise, directed by Sukumar, shows no signs of slowing down.
“There is no stopping #Pushpa2TheRule at the box office,” announced the film’s team on X (formerly Twitter on Friday, adding, “Becomes the fastest Indian film to cross 1719.5 CRORES WORLDWIDE in 22 days.”
The film is nearing Baahubali 2’s record of Rs 1788 crore worldwide. As it’s currently in its third week, it remains to be seen if it will break that record. Pushpa 2 grossed over Rs 1002 crore worldwide within the first 6 days of release. The film crossed the Rs 1400 crore mark in 11 days, reaching Rs 1508 crore by day 14.After a tragic incident at the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a woman lost her life and her young son was hospitalized, Arjun, the theatre management, and his security were arrested. Arjun was arrested on December 13, and while the Nampally court sent him to a 14-day remand, the High Court granted him interim bail for four weeks.
On December 27, Arjun appeared at Nampally court via video conference and filed a regular bail petition, which is set to be heard on December 30, according to PTI. Following the incident, both the police and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy have called for the actor to take responsibility, claiming he was aware of the fan’s death while still in the theatre. However, Arjun has denied these allegations.
