Jaideep Ahlawat recalls sweaty bus rides during his early days in Mumbai, “Khaana chahein…beshak ek roti kam khalunga”

Jaideep Ahlawat, who was last seen in Junaid Khan’s debut film ‘Maharaj‘ has been a part of Hindi cinema for over a decade. The actor gained recognition with his role in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs of Wasseypur‘ in 2012. After studying at the Film & Television Institute of India, Jaideep entered Bollywood in the late 2000s.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the ‘Jaane Jaan’ actor shared a memory from his early days in Mumbai.He recalled choosing not to travel by bus to save money. Instead, he opted to reduce one chapatti from his meal.
Ahlawat talked about his early days in Mumbai. He said he didn’t dislike that time but remembered how tough it was to travel around the city. Despite the challenges, he appreciated those experiences as part of his journey in the film industry.
The ‘Maharaj’ actor, shared his experience of traveling around Mumbai for work during his early days. He recalled once taking a bus to save money while travelling from Malad to Infiniti Mall, often getting drenched in sweat.
Jaideep called this a ‘regular exercise,’ adding that he naturally sweats a lot. He also pointed out how Mumbai’s weather is a mix of rain and heat.
“Us din bus mein betha maine aur decide karliya dobara toh nahin beth paunga bus mein. Khaana chahein…beshak ek roti kam khalunga par ye nahin ho paayega.”
Furthermore, he added that after sweating through his bus journey, he would sit in the mall for half an hour to cool down before starting his day. Despite the struggles, Jaideep remained positive and never felt upset about his experiences.
Professionally, he was graduated from FTII in 2008, where he studied alongside actors like Rajkummar Rao and Vijay Varma, the actor made his Bollywood debut in ‘Khatta Meetha'(2010), followed by ‘Aakrosh’ the same year. He is best known for his role as Hathi Ram Chaudhary in the web series ‘Paatal Lok‘ (2020), produced by Anushka Sharma. Some of his other notable films include ‘Raazi’, ‘Jaane Jaan’, and ‘An Action Hero’.
