Sharing her emotions about this debut, Chhaya took to Instagram, dedicating an emotional note to her late mother. She posted several pictures from the picturesque French Riviera and wrote in Marathi, “Mom, my dream of taking you on a plane ride remained unfulfilled….but today, I am satisfied that I brought your saree and nose ring with me on the plane to the Cannes Film Festival.Still, Mom! I wish you were here today to see all this. Love you, Mummy, and miss you a lot.”
In another post, Chhaya shared a delightful moment with music composer AR Rahman at the festival. She expressed her joy at meeting the Oscar-winning artist and conversing with him for a memorable 30 minutes. “Meeting at the Cannes Film Festival and chatting for half an hour while wandering the streets of France, and finally taking a selfie means,” Chhaya wrote in Marathi, adding the lyrics of Rahman’s iconic song Yeh Haseen Vadiyan from the film Roja, ‘In Baaharon mein, Dil ki kali khil gayi, Mujhko tum jo mile, Har khushi mil gayi.’

Chhaya graced the prestigious event representing her Malayalam film All We Imagine As Light, directed by Payal Kapadia. This film is the first Indian entry to compete in the main category, Palme d’Or, at Cannes in the last 30 years. All We Imagine As Light, an Indo-French production, narrates the story of a nurse named Prabha who receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband, leading to upheaval in her life.
