‘Auron Mein Kya Dum Tha’ box office collection day 4: The Ajay Devgn, Tabu starrer sees further drop on Monday | Hindi Movie News

The industry has got quite a shock as the much-anticipated Ajay Devgn, Tabu starrer ‘Auron Mein Kya Dum Tha‘ failed to make a mark at the box office. The film released on Friday, August 2 and managed to have a very dull opening of about Rs 1.85 crore. It saw a slight growth on Saturday, Sunday but wasn’t as expected.
The Neeraj Pandey directorial saw made around Rs 2.15 crore and Rs 2.75 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively, according to Sacnilk. However, on Monday, it saw a drop further and managed to make only Rs 1 crore. With that, the total collection of the film so far is Rs 7.75 crore. The total collection of 4 days being less than Rs 10 crore even, was not really expected by the trade from an Ajay Devgn, Tabu film. Considering, their past record in the form of ‘Drishyam 2’. The film was also quite niche and not a very big budget movie, hence in a way, this may have been anticipated.
Devgn’s last movie ‘Maidaan’ got immense critical acclaim but didn’t meet expectations at the box office. Other big movies that didn’t do well this year are ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and ‘Sarfira’. However, the reason for this film also not meeting expectations, could be the fact that Tabu and Ajay have limited screen time and one sees more of Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee Manjrekar in the movie. One had gone into the theatres expecting this one to be more about Ajay and Tabu. Hence, the word of mouth doesn’t seem good as fans seem disappointed.
Nevertheless, fans have high expectations now from Ajay’s next, which is ‘Singham Again’, as he returns as Bajirao Singham in this big Rohit Shetty actioner this Diwali. It also stars Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff and Arjun Kapoor.
