Ajay Devgn says today’s Bollywood is filled more with ‘boys’ than ‘men’: ‘Stars like Jackie Shroff, Sunny Deol and Amitabh Bachchan are real men’

Ajay Devgn, who is known for his on-screen macho persona, recently shared his thoughts on the lack of ‘men-men’ in Bollywood today, remarking that the industry is filled more with ‘boys’ than ‘men.’
Speaking on The Ranveer Show, the 55-year-old actor noted that many actors today lack the dominant male aura that was common in earlier generations. He cited stars like Jackie Shroff, Sunny Deol, and Amitabh Bachchan as “real men” whose strong screen presence and attitude made them stand out.
“In today’s world, you don’t see a dominating male personality. All are boys; you don’t see men-men. In the earlier generation, we saw men—even in my generation, from Jackie Shroff to Amitabh Bachchan, they were all men,” Ajay said.
Ajay explained that building a body alone doesn’t make one a “man” in his eyes, it’s about an inherent attitude and approach to life. “When Akshay Kumar was thrashing ten people or Sunny Deol was pulling out a hand pump, we would clap because we believed they could do it. In today’s generation, we don’t feel that anyone could actually do that,” he remarked.

The Singham Again star credited the shift to a change in upbringing, stressing that the presence of a strong male personality is no longer as common. “There’s been a change in upbringing, and you don’t become a man just by building a body. There’s an attitude and approach toward life that’s missing,” he stated.

In the Rohit Shetty directorial Singham Again, Ajay reprises his role as the iconic cop Bajirao Singham, joined by Bollywood heavyweights including Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, and a cameo by Salman Khan as Dabangg’s Chulbul Pandey. The film is performing exceptionally well at the box office, crossing the Rs 200 crore mark domestically by the end of its second weekend.
