Subhash Ghai is in the process of making the sequel to his iconic film ‘Khalnayak‘. The film is largely known for being one of the best in Sanjay Dutt‘s career as he played Ballu Balram. It also starred Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit. While Ghai has announced the sequel, reports suggested that he is looking to cast a new actor to replace Sanjay, for playing Ballu. It was being said that Ranveer Singh, Yash, Ranbir Kapoor and Allu Arjun are in this race to fill in Dutt’s shoes. However, Subhash Ghai has steered clear on these rumours and here’s what he told ETimes.
He said, “The truth is I am not looking for actors to play Ballu Balram but a younger actor to play a new character in ‘Khalnayak 2‘ who will be pitted against BALLU Balram who is 55 years old man now. BALLU will be played Sanjay Dutt only.
Like Al Pacino played in Godfather 2 and Marlon Brando played ‘Godfather 1’.”
Last year in September, when Ghai celebrated 30 years of Khalnayak, he had shared that he has not yet signed any actor for the film. ‘Khalnayak 2’ has been in scripting process for the last three years and they are in no hurry to take it on floors, Ghai had posted on social media.
